Some achievements take years of hard work. Others demand the strength to begin again after life changes everything.
Rohini Gurjar, a woman from Rajasthan, knows what it means to rebuild a dream.
Her journey began in Ghughra, where she made history in 2006 by becoming the village’s first female graduate. She went on to teach at a private school, but her ambition to secure a government job remained alive.
In 2021, she lost her husband. Along with grief, she faced painful social stigma. Instead of giving up on her future, she returned to her studies after a long break.
She cleared the preliminary stage of the Rajasthan Administrative Services examination in 2023. But just when she was moving closer to her goal, she suffered another devastating loss: her 10-year-old daughter died shortly before the Mains examination.
Soon after, an accident seriously injured one of her eyes.
Still, Rohini chose to appear for the exam.
That decision became a turning point. She cleared the Mains and interview, earning second rank in the MBC widow category in RAS 2024. She was allotted the Rajasthan Accounts Service.
Her achievement carries a message beyond competitive exams. It reminds us how important it is to give women the freedom, support, and opportunity to pursue their ambitions, even when society doubts them.
Rohini’s journey shows that a difficult chapter does not have to be the end of the story.
